We are looking for an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
for our Boscombe Centre.
Job Purpose:
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, working closely with tutors and other support staff to ensure high-quality education for all students. The HLTA will work with groups or individual students, plan and deliver lessons, and support the educational and emotional development of pupils, helping them achieve their full potential. This position requires a high level of competence, creativity, and initiative, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Description:
Classroom Support:
– To plan, prepare and deliver lessons or learning activities for individuals and small groups of students, under the direction and supervision of a class tutor
– Support tutors in planning and assessment by assisting with lesson objectives, evaluating student progress, and suggesting improvements to teaching strategies
– To cover classes as needed, following the lesson plans
– To deliver embedded English and Maths skills
– Maintaining the quality of the learner programme to a sufficient standard to pass IQA and EQA criteria
Student Development and general LSA duties:
– To support learners with LDD/SEND in a variety of classroom settings
– To provide one to one support as directed by Head of Learning, Centre Manager or class tutor
– Provide learning support within a group and on an individual basis
– To act as a scribe/reader/exam invigilator as required
– To support students on breaks
– To contribute to learners ILPs
– To work closely with team members to ensure that ILP targets are monitored and reviewed
– To be aware of individual learner’s risk assessments and needs
– To support learners to access transport and with travel training
– To accompany learners during work experience placements both on and off site
– Accompany learners on outings, visits, community and recreational activities
– Encourage independence and self-help skills wherever possible
– Keep records associated with the role as required in a timely manner
– Any other reasonable task required by the management team

Salary: £27,000 per year
