Last week we were delighted to welcome the team from Lush cosmetics who visited our Boscombe campus. The team met with our Post 16 Vocational Group, SEN Supported Interns, Traineeships & our Prep 4 Work students to discuss the Lush business and get hands on making a variety of bath bombs and bubble bars!
Lush was founded in 1995, in Poole and provide a wide selection of fresh, handmade cosmetics ranging from soaps, moisturisers, lotions and so much more! All their products are vegetarian, using sustainably sourced ingredients and are never tested on animals.
The main objectives of the day was for our young people to meet and experience what being an employee could be like, giving them the hands on experience to see what is involved and whether they would be able to undertake a role. It was also an opportunity for the staff at Lush to understand any sensory issues our young people might have with the products being produced. We were also keen to integrate post 16 and traineeships with SEN to work together and provide opportunities for our young people to engage with new faces.
Throughout the day our Traineeship/Post 16 groups both mixed with the SEN supported interns and prep4work students to learn how to make and create a bath bomb and bubble bar. Everyone had a chance to be involved and were encouraged to take part and talk with each other about what they were doing.

We are pleased to report that Lush have invited all our learners for a visit to their manufacturing site where they will get to see behind the scenes and gain further insight into the business.
